Clasificadas como Clase IIV, este tipo de elevador se distingue por su capacitación y funcionamiento, que difieren de otros tipos. Estas carretillas no tienen mástil vertical como la mayoría de las carretillas elevadoras de almacén y se utilizan generalmente en obras de construcción con terrenos de tierra o sin pavimentar. Elevan materiales a niveles superiores y poseen una capacidad de giro excepcional.
