Order Picker Certification Training

Order Picker and Turret Trucks are unique types of forklifts. They are a Class II, like Stand Up Reach, but do not have the same characteristics or functions as a Stand Up Reach or any Counter Balance Lift. Order pickers allow operators to walk around the platform and pick products while elevated. Turret Trucks elevate the operator but only use forks to pick and move pallets. Both require fall protection, and this training includes fall safety and rescue plans similar to aerial requirements.Order Picker and Turret Trucks are unique types of forklifts. Order Picker

Most Powered Industrial Trucks or forklifts operate with the operator on the ground. Order pickers and turret trucks elevate the operator to the height of the product. This adds several additional elements of danger to their use, and utilizing fall protection is mandatory on these types of lifts. This training program will review the safe operation of Order Pickers and Turret Trucks, how to inspect and put on full body harnesses, create a rescue plan, and use wire and rail guides for trucks with these features.

While there are forks on the order picker, typically, this is for the pallet that will be used to build the shipment, and operators move about the platform while elevated. Turret trucks elevate the operator, but the forks are used more traditionally, picking up pallets from the racks. Turret trucks have a unique fork movement process called a "swing reach," allowing the lift to stay straight in the aisle. Only the mast and forks move, allowing for very narrow aisle operations.

MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms), often referred to as an Aerial Lift operator class, covers all classifications of mobile elevating work platforms

Order Picker

MWEP is the new name for aerial lift equipment. Effective in 2020, boom lifts, scissor lifts, bucket trucks, and forklift work platforms are now classified under the latest ANSI Standards A92.22 and A92.24, which OSHA uses as training standards.

With this new standard, not only operators but also occupants and supervisors require training. The class is designed to review the general safety of the lifts.
